Es freut mich sehr, dass ich gemeinsam mit meinem Kamerakollegen und guten Freund Philip Bloom in “meiner” Stadt Wien am 15. und 16. November eine zweitätige Video Masterclass abhalten werde. Der Workshop findet in der Krieau statt, die ob ihrer Weitläufigkeit und vor allem der Trabrennbahn bekannt ist.

Am ersten Tag, bei den Drehübungen, werden auch Johnnie Behiri und Alexander Boboschweski als Tutoren zur Verfügung stehen!

Dieser Workshop wird vom Veranstalter der Photo + Adventure Messe abgehalten, die an der Messe Wien am 16. und 17. November stattfindet. (Ein Ticket für einen Besuch der Messe am 17.10. ist im Workshop-Preis enthalten.)

Diese Video Masterclass basiert auf der Reihe von sehr erfolgreichen dreitägigen Filmmaking Masterclasses, die Philip Bloom, Sebastian Wiegärtner und ich in den vergangenen Jahren in Mallorca (Spanien), Las Vegas (Nevada) und Key West (Florida) abgehalten haben (neue Filmmaking Masterclasses werden 2014 stattfinden!). Allerdings handelt es sich bei dieser Video Masterclass in Wien um eine kleinere und kürzere (zweitägige) Veranstaltung. Das Prinzip ist aber das gleiche: Wir möchten, dass die Teilnehmer selbst DREHEN und quasi bei der Arbeit lernen! Nach Einführungsrunden und Kennenlernen am Vormittag des ersten Tages werden die Teilnehmer unter Philips und meiner Leitung Kurzfilme drehen. Als Hausaufgabe werden die Teilnehmer diese Filme am Abend schneiden und am nächsten Tag mit in den Workshop bringen, wo wir sie schonungslos analysieren 😉

Danach wird Philip über den Aufbau und die Entstehung von einem seiner Filme sprechen. Dabei reden wir über Vorproduktion, Storytelling, die Auswahl des Equipments, Interviewtechniken, sowie über Beleuchtungs- und Audio-Basics und etwas Postproduktion.

Dies ist ein Workshop für Fortgeschrittene, die schon regelmäßig mit ihrer DSLR oder Super35mm-Kamera drehen und ihre Technik verbessern wollen. Teilnehmer sollten ihre eigene Kamera, Optiken und Stativ mitbringen, weiteres Equipment (Slider, Kräne …) wird aber zur Verfügung gestellt.

Der Workshop wird wegen Philip natürlich auf Englisch abgehalten, allerdings spreche ich natürlich gerne mit allen Teilnehmern in meiner Muttersprache, wenn es um das Coaching geht. Aber wir müssen den Briten ja nicht gleich ausgrenzen, da wird er sauer 😉

English description:

I am very happy to announce that I will give a 2-day Video Masterclass with my buddy Philip Bloom in “my” city Vienna on November 15 & 16. The workshop will take place in the Krieau, a huge area in Vienna’s 2nd district with a lot of space and famous for its horse race track.

This workshop will be hosted and organized by the same people who host the Photo + Adventure Trade Show in Vienna which takes place on November 16 & 17, 2013 at the Messe Wien. (Ticket for the show included with the workshop fee.)

This Video Masterclass is based on the extremely popular series of 3-day Filmmaking Masterclasses that we have conducted in Mallorca (Spain), Las Vegas (Nevada) and Key West (Florida) in the past three years (it will return 2014!). However, this will be a smaller and shorter (2-day) workshop, but with the same principle: We want people to SHOOT and learn while working on their film projects! After introductions we will spend the second half of the first day shooting under Philip’s and my guidance. As homework, you’ll have to edit your short film in the evening and bring it to the workshop on the next day, where we will go through the films and analyze them.

After that, Philip will talk about the making of one of his films in detail, and we will cover themes like pre-production, storytelling, the selection of gear, interview techniques, some lighting and audio and post production.

This is an intermediate to advanced workshop and we expect people to have some experience with shooting. Attendees will be asked to bring their own cameras, lenses and tripods, other gear will be provided at the workshop.

The workshop will be held in English because of Philip but of course I will talk German in my teams if people want it (or if the entire team’s native language is German).
