I shot this video for Carl Zeiss Lenses at NAB 2013 for Wiegärtner GmbH, who also edited the film. It’s about Zeiss’s new offerings in the cinema market, namely the gorgeous Compact Zoom CZ.2 28-80mm T2.9 (which was also my main lens for this clip), the CZ.2 70-200mm T/2.9 and their first offering in the anamorphic market, the Arri Master Anamorphic 50mm T/1.9 (which will be made into a complete lineup and full set of lenses by the beginning of 2014. Click here for all their details.)

Believe me, these lenses are incredible, and I love that Zeiss are now tackling the cinema market with zooms as well. I have been working a lot more in high-end television since a year or so, and while cinema quality is demanded there frequently, there is simply not enough time to work with prime lenses in most cases. That’s exactly where cinema zooms come in – versatility without a compromise, you are able to achieve beautiful cinematic images with these yet you are fast enough to knock out many more shots than you would be able to with prime lenses. I can’t wait to use them on future productions – now there’s some convincing to do with some clients 😉

Equipment used for this video:
Canon C300 with Zeiss CZ.2 28-80mm and 25mm CP.2 plus a GoPro for the timelapse of the stand.
